Hotel Reservation/Housing Alert
The only company contracted by APWA Florida Chapter for hotel room reservations is Plan Ahead Events - Tampa Bay, APWA Florida Chapter's designated Meeting Planner. NO third party vendors are authorized to sell our expo attendee list, and NO third party vendor is authorized to book hotel rooms through our block. The Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina is the only hotel with an APWA room block. There is NO early bird rate. We will NOT contact you by phone to get you to book hotel rooms. You may receive booking reminders via email from Plan Ahead Events - Tampa Bay, and they will include the same booking link and phone number as listed above.
We have been made aware of “housing pirates” that may be aggressively pursuing you, your company, or agency to book your guest rooms through their company at supposedly significant discounts. Reservations made through any of these companies will be at your own risk. None of these companies represent APWA Florida Chapter - they may be legitimate companies with questionable operating ethics, or they may be trying to obtain credit card numbers to be used illegally. Both types are commonly referred to as “housing pirates” or “housing bandits.”
What is a housing pirate? Housing pirates or housing bandits are companies that phone, fax, or email attendees and exhibitors, claiming to offer good deals on hotel rooms. They may falsely claim affiliation with APWA Florida Chapter. Unless you have initiated the communication, please do not provide anyone with your personal information, especially your credit card number. If you provide your credit card information to one of these companies, your card may be charged, and there is no guarantee you will have a room upon your arrival.
Disclaimer: We may share your first and last name only with the hotel for the express purposes of identifying whether or not you have a reservation and if that reservation is booked outside of the group room block.
